Privacy Policy
Last updated: 29 July 2026
Denise North Consulting (ABN 59 600 259 872) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose and safeguard your personal information, in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). Where we provide coaching or mentoring services to individuals in the European Union, we also aim to meet the relevant requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
1. Who we are
Denise North Consulting is an executive advisory and coaching practice operated by Denise North, based in Sydney, Australia. We provide board advisory, executive coaching, leadership development, mentoring and strategic advisory services to senior leaders and organisations in Australia and internationally.
2. Information we collect
We may collect the following types of personal information:
- Contact details — name, email address, phone number and postal address
- Professional information — organisation, role, industry and career background
- Enquiry and correspondence details — information you provide when contacting us via our website, email or phone
- Engagement information — details relevant to delivering advisory, coaching or consulting services
- Session recordings and notes — with your consent, audio, video or written records of coaching or mentoring conversations
- Website usage data — information collected automatically when you visit our website, including IP address, browser type, pages viewed and time spent
3. How we collect your information
We collect personal information in the following ways:
- Directly from you — when you complete a contact form, send an email, make a phone enquiry, engage our services, or take part in a coaching or mentoring session
- Automatically — through cookies and similar technologies when you visit our website
- From third parties — where you have been referred to us or where information is publicly available
4. How we use your information
We use your personal information to:
- Respond to your enquiries and communicate with you
- Deliver advisory, coaching and mentoring services, including preparing summaries of key points from coaching or mentoring conversations
- Manage our client relationships and engagements
- Send relevant communications, including updates or information we believe may be of interest to you (you may opt out at any time)
- Improve our website and services
- Meet our legal and regulatory obligations
5. Recording of coaching and mentoring sessions
With your consent, we may record coaching or mentoring conversations (audio, video or written notes) so we can prepare a summary of key points for both of us. We will ask for your consent before recording a session.
Recordings and notes are stored securely, accessed only by those directly involved in your engagement, and kept only as long as needed before being securely deleted. We do not share recordings or summaries with anyone outside your engagement — other than where required by law — without both your consent and ours. Further detail on how this consent is managed is set out in our coaching and mentoring services agreement.
6. Confidentiality
Confidentiality is foundational to the way Denise North Consulting operates. All information shared within coaching, advisory and consulting engagements, including recordings and summaries, is treated as strictly confidential. We do not disclose client information to third parties without your explicit consent, except where required by law.
7. Disclosure of your information
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We may disclose your information to:
- Third-party service providers who assist us in operating our website or delivering services (such as email platforms or scheduling tools), where those providers are bound by confidentiality obligations
- Professional advisers, including lawyers and accountants, where necessary
- Regulatory or government bodies where required by law
Where we disclose information to third parties, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.
8. Clients and website visitors outside Australia
We provide coaching and mentoring services to individuals both in Australia and internationally, including in the European Union. Some of our third-party service providers (such as email, scheduling or payment platforms) may also store data outside Australia, including in the United States. Where this occurs, we take reasonable steps to ensure your information is protected consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.
For individuals located in the European Union, we process personal information on the basis of your consent, to deliver the coaching, mentoring or advisory services you have engaged us for, or to meet our legal obligations. Because this information is provided by you directly, rather than transferred to us by another organisation, it is not subject to separate international transfer safeguards — but we apply the same protections described in this policy regardless of where you are located.
9. Data security and retention
We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. These measures include secure storage, restricted access, and using reputable third-party platforms with appropriate security certifications. We keep personal information only for as long as it is needed for the purposes described in this policy, or as required by law, and take reasonable steps to securely destroy or de-identify it once it is no longer needed. We will notify you if we become aware of a data breach that is likely to result in serious harm.
10. Sensitive information
Coaching and mentoring conversations may occasionally touch on sensitive information, such as health or wellbeing. We only collect this information with your consent, and handle it with additional care.
11. Cookies and website analytics
Our website uses cookies and analytics tools to understand how visitors use the site and improve the user experience. You will be asked to consent to non-essential cookies when you first visit our website, and can change your preferences at any time through your browser settings or by contacting us. Disabling cookies may affect the functionality of the website.
12. Your privacy rights
You have the right to request access to the personal information we hold about you, and to request correction where that information is inaccurate, out of date or incomplete.
If you are located in the European Union, you also have the right to request erasure or restriction of your personal information, to object to certain processing, to receive a copy of your information in a portable format, and to withdraw consent at any time.
To make a request, please contact us using the details below. We will respond within a reasonable timeframe, generally within 30 days.
13. Complaints
If you have a concern or complaint about the way we have handled your personal information, please contact us in the first instance — we will investigate and aim to respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at www.oaic.gov.au, or, if you are located in the European Union, with your local data protection authority.
